Built in 1911 by the Compagnie des Wagons-Lits under the direction of the renowned Nice architect Charles Delmas, the Grand Palais was originally designed as a hotel.
With its nine floors standing in a dominant position at the entrance of Boulevard de Cimiez, it is the tallest palace built in Nice during the Belle Époque. Its impressive size is matched only by its innovative construction method, inspired by the “Eiffel” technique: a metal framework onto which a stone-clad façade was attached.

The hotel originally included a secondary building located just below, to the east: the Petit Palais.

Today, the Grand Palais has been transformed into a condominium. Its apartments retain all the charm, elegance and proportions of the Belle Époque.
